Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in Lake County convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Lake County during the fourth quarter of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 64. The youngest parolee was a 61-year-old man sentenced in 1990, and the oldest was a 67-year-old man sentenced in 1980.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Carl Michaels. He was convicted in 1980 when he was 28 years old. He is now 67.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of homicide were paroled during the fourth quarter of 2018 in each Illinois county.
