City of Petersburg City Council met Dec. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

I. CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Rick Snyder called the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m.

II. PRELIMINARY MATTERS

A. Members present were Mayor Rick Snyder, Aldermen Kevin Molohon, Andrew Gain, Bruce Gorman, and Mike Allison. Also present were Treasurer Dave Frick, City Clerk Ken Ortman and City Attorney Bailey Felts.

B. Mayor Snyder led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

C. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve the agenda as Presented. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

Alderman Sonnemaker arrived at 7:05 PM.

III. CITY CLERK

A. The City Clerk presented the Warrant List and Accounts Payable.

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Allison to approve payment of the bills as listed on the Warrant List and Accounts Payable. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the

MOTION CARRIED.

B. A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to approve the minutes of December November 19,2019 Regular Meeting. VOTES: Molohon, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

IV. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

A. Police

Police Chief John Jones gave the Police Report for November 2019.

Officer did a good job on a recent home invasion. New Car is in and has the computer pedestal and decals to be installed.

B. Fire

Chief Pat Rebbe gave the Fire report for November. The Department ran 21 calls this month. The battery on Truck 2 fixed the issue with it. Engine 2 had a water leak. We fixed it ourselves.

Firefighters Coulton Doerr and Josh Kinder finished an in-house Basic EMT class. The 911 Board would like to take over placing address for the City.

V. OFFICERS’ REPORTS

A. Mayor’s Report

1. FOP Police Contract. The Mayor discussed the latest agreement with the FOP and the City. We have agreed to a $.50 per hour raise for the years 2019 and 2020. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to accept the wage terms signed by the FOP and the City for the years 2019 and 2020. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes, Molohon, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

Alderman Grosboll arrived at 7:23 PM.

2. Create a Police Sergeant Position. A motion made by Alderman Gain and seconded by Alderman Sonnemaker to promote Officer Luke Standley to the position of Sergeant effective December 1, 2019 with a starting pay of $18.18 per hour. VOTES: Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

B. Treasurer’s Report

1. Treasurer David Frick gave the Annual Treasurers Report. A motion made by Alderman Gorman seconded by Alderman Gain to approve the Annual Treasurers Report as presented. VOTES: Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes; Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes;  Gain, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED.

2. City Auditor Mike Feriozzi gave the Annual Audit Report. The City is in a little bit better financial position that last year.

VI. STANDING COMMITTEES’ REPORT

None

VII. SPECIAL COMMITTEES’ REPORT

None

VIII. HEARING OF CITIZENS

None

X. Old Business

None

X. NEW BUSINESS

1. Discussion on the Tax Levy that will be coming up at the next meeting.

2. Discussion on Marijuana Sales. The Mayor talked about setting up an ordinance to regulate where it can go and if we want to tax it.

XII. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Gorman and seconded by Alderman Grosboll to adjourn the meeting. VOTES: Gorman, yes; Molohon, yes; Grosboll, yes; Gain, yes; Allison, yes; Sonnemaker, yes. Mayor Snyder declared the MOTION CARRIED. Meeting Adjourned at 8:01PM.
