El Paso Gridley Community Unit School District 11 Board met Nov. 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Randy Barth called the Regular Board Meeting to order at 6:30p.m. with the following Board members present: Randy Barth / Seth Campbell / Sean Cornell / Bradley Griffin / John Hartness / Brian Stoller / Bob Wettstein.

Administrators present: Superintendent Brian Kurz Jefferson Park School Principal Kelly Throneburg / Centennial School Principal Tim Fairchild E.P.G.J.H.S. Principal Robby Tomlinson / E.P.G.H.S. Principal Brian Quam J.H.S. Dean/A.D. Josh Krone / H.S. Dean Dan Erwin / Director of Instruction Amber Buss.

A motion was made by Sean Cornell and seconded by John Hartness to approve the agenda as presented, with the exception of moving item XI. E. to XI. A. All yeas, on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Brad Griffin and seconded by Randy Barth to adjourn to Public Hearing on Administrative Costs Waiver at 6:31p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

Public Hearing on Administrative Costs Waiver

President Randy Barth called the Public Hearing on Administrative Costs Waiver to order at 6:32p.m. with the following Board members present: Randy Barth / Seth Campbell / Sean Cornell / Bradley Griffin / John Hartness / Brian Stoller / Bob Wettstein.

Administrators present: Superintendent Brian Kurz Jefferson Park School Principal Kelly Throneburg / Centennial School Principal Tim Fairchild E.P.G.J.H.S. Principal Robby Tomlinson / E.P.G.H.S. Principal Brian Quam J.H.S. Dean/A.D. Josh Krone / H.S. Dean Dan Erwin / Director of Instruction Amber Buss.

Visitors included Kendall King with Municipal Advisor, Jill Stauter-School Psychologist, Christy Quam-School Social Worker, Jenny Macpherson-School Psychologist, Mitzi McBride-School Social Worker, Nicole Glacinski, Sheryl Bucher, and Jennie Kearney.

A motion was made by Bob Wettstein and seconded by John Hartness to approve the agenda of the Public Hearing on the Administrative Costs Waiver as presented. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

Outline of Administrative Costs Waiver was presented by Superintendent Brian Kurz. For transparency purposes, he would like to move the line item for district administrative assistant cost to superintendent budget (district office budget).

There was no public input regarding the administrative costs waiver.

There was no board input regarding the administrative costs waiver.

A motion was made by Brian Stoller and seconded by Sean Cornell to adjourn FROM Public Hearing at 6:36p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by John Hartness and seconded by Sean Cornell to approve the consent agenda as presented.

All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

Written reports were submitted earlier by the principals and Director of Instruction. Junior High Principal Robby Tomlinson also shared that Jamie Erwin is a Golden Apple nominee. Director of Instruction Amber Buss gave a presentation regarding the district goals overview. The Assessment Team and Director Buss also gave a presentation.

Kendall King with King’s Financial Consulting Inc. presented a report showing scenarios with how we could finance $20 million without raising the tax rate. Superintendent Kurz presented proposed referendum language and explained that we have up to 5 years to issue up to $20 million.

Superintendent Kurz presented two options regarding the Worker’s Compensation insurance bids. Both options have money savings over the current provider.

Superintendent Kurz presented the Estimated Tax Levy.

Board discussed December date for hearing to approve the Tax Levy.

Administrative Costs Waiver was once again discussed by the Board.

Student Disciplinary Hearing-Part A

A motion was made by Brian Stoller and seconded by Seth Campbell to approve Randy Barth, EPG Board President to preside over the Student Disciplinary Hearing. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by John Hartness and seconded by Bob Wettstein at 9:11p.m. that Student 2019-11-25A be found to have committed an act of gross disobedience or misconduct such that an expulsion of a period of time not to exceed two calendar years is justified by the evidence. All yeas on a roll call vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

Student Disciplinary Hearing-Part B

A motion was made by John Hartness and seconded by Bob Wettstein at 9:40p.m. that Student 2019-11-25A be expelled from school for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. All yeas on a roll call vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Sean Cornell and seconded by John Hartness to approve worker’s compensation bid from PSIC at 10:07p.m. All yeas on a roll call vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Brad Griffin and seconded by John Hartness to approve the estimated tax levy at 10:09p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Bob Wettstein and seconded by Seth Campbell to schedule the tax levy public hearing meeting date for December 16, 2019 at 6:31p.m. at 10:09p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Bob Wettstein and seconded by Sean Cornell to approve the Administrative Costs Waiver at 10:10p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.

A motion was made by Randy Barth and seconded by Brian Stoller to approve adjourning the meeting at 10:10p.m. All yeas on a voice vote. The motion carried seven to zero.
