Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees in Springfield convicted of homicide

There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Springfield during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Springfield were men. The younger parolee was a 49-year-old man sentenced in 1997. The other was a 54-year-old man sentenced in 2013.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Robert V. Donley. He was convicted of homicide in 1997 when he was 27 years old. He is now 49.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
