Canton Union School District 66 Board met March 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

1. CALL TO ORDER

Board President Leonard Barnard called the regular meeting to order at 6:45 PM in the Boardroom at the Administration Building.

2. ROLL CALL

Board members present and answering roll call were Leonard Barnard, Ben Bishop, Lori Coleman, Matt Kees, Jane Lewis, Tom Snowman and Mike Krulac.

3. AUDIENCE REQUESTS TO ADDRESS THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

There were no audience requests to address the Board of Education.

4. PERSONNEL

A. Consider the Employment of Nick Wright as Varsity Football Coach and High School Social Studies Teacher at Canton High School, Effective at the Beginning of the 2020-2021 School Year (Pending Background Check and Required Paperwork) Board member Lewis moved to approve the employment of Nick Wright as Varsity Football Coach and High School Social Studies Teacher at Canton High School, Effective at the Beginning of the 2020-2021 School Year. Bishop seconded. Voting yes by roll call were Lewis, Bishop, Barnard, Coleman, Kees, Snowman and Krulac. Motion carried.

5. CLOSED SESSION

A. The appointment, employment, compensation, performance, of a specific employee of the public body. [ILCS120/2(c)(1)]

B. Discuss Student Disciplinary Matters and/or Educational Matters Relating to Individual Students [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9) and (10)]

Board member Bishop moved to go to closed session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, performance, of a specific employee of the public body. [ILCS120/2(c)(1)] and to discuss student disciplinary matters and/or educational matters relating to individual students [5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9) and (10)]. Seconded by Krulac. Voting yes by roll call were Bishop, Krulac, Barnard, Coleman, Kees, Lewis and Snowman. Motion carried.

The board entered into closed session at 7:00 PM. The board returned to open session at 7:00 PM.

6. ACTION FROM CLOSED SESSION

A. Consider Approval of an Agreement in Lieu of Expulsion for Student #2020-J as Discussed in Closed Session It was moved by board member Lewis and seconded by board member Bishop that the Agreement in Lieu of Expulsion for Student #2020-J providing for placement in the New Horizons School in Lewistown for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and the entire 2020-2021 school year, pursuant to 105 ILCS 5/10-22.6, be approved as discussed by the Board of Education in closed session. Voting yes by roll call were Lewis, Bishop, Barnard Coleman, Kees, Snowman and Krulac. Motion carried.

7. ADJOURN
