Sherman Fire Protection District responded to 77 calls in 2018 - 14.9 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sherman included 43 fires - 18 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 17 other fires.

In all, the department saw $23,616 in fire loss - or about $549 per fire.

The department also received 34 false calls, including three malicious calls and 31 other false calls.

The Sherman Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,092,893 in 2018.
