Q2 2020 Recap: Parolees in Sangamon County convicted of financial crimes or fraud

There were five offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud released on parole in Sangamon County during the second quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that three men and two women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for financial crimes or fraud was 40. The youngest parolee was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2015, and the oldest was a 50-year-old woman sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Alexis R. Schmidt. He was convicted in 2015 when he was 26 years old. He is now 31.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
