Q3 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Sangamon County?

There were 83 offenders released on parole during the third quarter of 2020 that live in Sangamon County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Sangamon Sun.

The data shows that 79 men and four women were released in Sangamon County. Of the parolees, two were veterans, and the median age was 39. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2019, and the oldest was a 69-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2010.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Deborah Steinkuehler. She was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2008 when she was 45 years old. She is now 57.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the third quarter of 2020 in each Sangamon County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
