ST. JOHN'S HOSPITAL SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS: Help HSHS Illinois Home Care Collect Food Items For Catholic Charities

Donatefood

St. John's Hospital Springfield Illinois issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

HSHS Illinois Home Care is holding a food drive this month for the Catholic Charities food pantry to help those in the area struggling with food insecurity.

Home health care colleagues in the legacy HSHS Southern Illinois Division came up with this idea five years ago after seeing patients in the winter months who were struggling to find food and local food pantries were having trouble meeting demand. The initiative was rolled out state wide this year.

You can help by dropping off non-perishable food items at the HSHS Illinois Home Care office located at 2667 Farragut Drive, Springfield. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Donations will be accepted the entire month of March.

Some non-perishable items that Catholic Charities could use are:

  • Pancake mix and syrup
  • Jelly
  • Canned fruit
  • Pasta sauce
  • Cereal
  • Granola
  • Sugar free canned fruit
  • Low salt canned vegetables
  • Large boxes of oatmeal…as well as any other non-perishable items
