What: State of Illinois officials will join Ferrara, the North American confection and snack powerhouse, to mark the opening of the company’s newest facility in DeKalb. The new 1.6 million square foot facility, which represents a $100 million investment in the community, brings forward 500 local jobs, and will enhance the company’s ability to serve customers and to meet evolving consumer demands.
The project, located in Chicago West Business Park, also creates one of the state’s largest distribution and warehousing centers. Ferrara’s decision to expand in Illinois follows a collaborative process involving Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) the DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC), and City of DeKalb officials.
Ferrara, headquartered in Chicago, has an operational network of 20 locations in North America, including the DeKalb complex and collectively employs more than 6,000 people – the majority of which are based in Illinois.
