Village of Divernon Board of Trustees met Oct. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Village of Divernon Board of Trustees was held at the Village Hall. Mayor Pro Tem Larry Baer called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. After the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, Clerk Gail Hedges called roll: Craig Busch “Here”, Joe Bukantos “Here”, Chuck Apgar “Here”, and Tyler Bramley “Here”. Mayor Jim Copelin and Dianne Brenning were absent. Also present were Chief Jason Martin and Superintendent Jeremy Rhodes.

A motion was made by Apgar seconded by Bukantos to approve the minutes of October 13, 2021. The motion passed 3-0 with Bramley voting present

Bramley made a motion seconded by Busch to approve the bills. The motion passed 4-0. Visitors

No visitors were present.

Supervisor Reports:

Public Works:

Superintendent Rhodes reported the Divernon Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants on October 30 and 31, 2021. Notice will be posted on Facebook and also an alert via Civic Plus will go out notifying village residents signed up for the service.

Police:

Chief Martin reported he hit a deer while responding to a call in the Explorer which caused damage to the driver’s side.

Committee Reports: Economic Dev., Zoning, TIF, Building Permits:

Busch reported that he spoke with local businesses about how American Rescue Plan Act funding could benefit them in light of the negative economic impact of COVID-19. Discussion was had with no decisions made.

Public Utilities Water, Gas and Sewer

Bukantos reported that Jake Rettberg’s Otter Lake Commissioner seat would be expiring December 31, 2021. Bukantos made a motion to approve a Resolution appointing Jake Rettberg to another six-year term as Commissioner. Bramley seconded the motion which passed 4-0.

Finance, Personnel, GIS:

A motion was made by Bramley seconded by Bukantos to approve the 2022 Tax Levy. The motion passed 4-0. Jessica Hayes, acting Treasurer, will be on vacation November 6 – 17, 2021. Discussion was had on the Business Development District recent distribution.

Apgar reported that BLH Recycling has the date of May 7, 2022 open for the Divernon Village Electronics Recycling Event. Following discussion, BLH will be contacted to confirm the date of May 7, 2022 as the electronics recycling event. Discussion of the date of the Village Yard Sale also took place.

Public Works, Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks:

The trees along Brown Street coming into to Divernon will be removed over the winter. Pine trees will be planted along the street thanks to a generous donation from a village resident.

Village Communication/Building, Grounds and Lights, Parks, Recreation:

Bramley reported that burnt out lights under the pavilion have been replaced. Chief Martin was asked to report street lights that need to be replaced.

Old Business:

A motion was made by Apgar seconded by Busch to approve a gift for the retired former Village treasurer. The motion passed 4-0.

New Business:

Hedges reported the Secretary of State had certified the census population. Apgar reported the Village Newsletter will go out in the next couple weeks.

The meeting ended with a motion by Bramley at 7:39 p.m.
