Arthur Community Unit School District #305 Board of Education met March 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the Arthur Board of Education was called to order by President Beth Wiley at 6:00 pm, in the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School Cafeteria with the following members in attendance: Suzi Berkich, Brock Casteel, Monica Green, Kristie Mechling, Ryan Nettles, Justin Wierman, and Beth Wiley. Mr. Shannon Cheek and administrators were also present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

During recognition of visitors, Mr. Cheek introduced members of the facilities team, Jason Yeakel, Jon Day, and Matt Schrock.

A motion was made by Monica Green, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve the facilities plan phase 1 as presented. A discussion was held surrounding HVAC and gym completion. The discussion included the possibility of using ESSER funds to complete HVAC at Arthur Grade School. The gymnasium completion at Arthur Grade School could potentially be considered in 2025 with alternative funding resources.

A motion was made by Monica Green to amend the motion on the floor, Justin Wierman seconded the amended motion. The amended motion that was presented included HVAC at ALAH High School and omitted the gymnasium at Arthur Grade School. Upon roll, all members present voted yea, Motion carried.

During Board Comment, the board thanked the committee for their work in the process.

A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Ryan Nettles to accept the resignation of Melissa Nichols as the district nurse effective the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Monica Green, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve for hire Justine Gimer as a Special Education teacher at ALAH High School. Upon roll, all members present voted yea, Motion carried.

A motion was made by Justin Wierman, seconded by Ryan Nettles to adjourn at 6:30 pm. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.
