Analysis: Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley administrators rank 479th in state for average pay

Administrators in Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Community Unified School District 5 earn an average of $98,797 per year, ranking 479th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Sangamon Sun analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 0.3 percent lower than in 2016 and 3.2 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 11.2 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley School District in Ford County enrolled 999 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 164 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
