GHS Key Club's Yellow Tulip Project

360

Glenwood High School now has a Hope Garden, planted by the school’s Key Club on November 13, 2021 for the Yellow Tulip Project.

Yellow tulips are significant as they represent happiness and hope for the future. YTP is a non-profit organization led by youth with a mission to “help smash the stigma around mental illness and to build community to remind people that there is help and hope for those living with mental illness," as stated on their website. The organization has 406 active youth ambassadors from five countries and 36 U.S. states, and have planted half a million tulip bulbs. Furthermore, more than one million people have seen YTP’s “I Am More: Facing Stigma” photo exhibit.

The GHS Key Club members do their part to maintain their tulips with a weekly watering committee and trash cleanup. Their Hope Garden is a way to raise awareness and support mental health. Students are free to stop by, and the benches also provide a place for student support groups to meet.
