Illinois GOP chairman Don Tracy is expecting an uptick in support for Republicans this year.
Tracy said the increasing controversial and chronically damaging policies pursued by Democrats have voters turning toward Republicans this election season set to kick off with the June 28 primary.
“Skyrocketing gas prices, record inflation, an open border, shortage of baby formula — you name it — Joe Biden and Democrats in D.C. and Illinois have created a seemingly never-ending series of crises that have rocked our nation’s confidence,” Tracy said in his weekly memo. "Add in that for two years Democrats shut down our economy and our schools even though such draconian measures were not shown to have much effect — especially after the vaccine was readily available — and the American electorate is ready for change.”
Tracy cited declining trust in Democrats.
“Polls show that support for Democrats has cratered," he said. "For example, Joe Biden approval numbers are at historic lows. Generic congressional ballot has Republicans up nearly 10 points. And when we look at election results from Virginia and New Jersey in 2021 — they represented 12 and 14 point swings toward Republicans from 2020 respectively. The recipe and the ingredients are present to create what many people believe will be a true red wave in November that sweeps across the nation in total rejection of Democrats' handling of the pandemic and their current radical and highly unpopular positions on cultural issues such as men in women’s sports, indoctrination of our kids in schools and even whether America is a great nation.”
November 2022 is the time to redeem what Illinois deserves, Tracy said.
“This is not about just winning elections to put Republicans in power. This is about putting Republicans in power because we are the only ones who seem to care about providing solutions for saving Illinois and the City of Chicago from its current state of lawlessness at the hands of complete Democrat control. Democrats have utterly failed us and we have an opportunity to step up and deliver real results on the issues voters care about at a fundamental level — cost of living, public safety and the end of political corruption once and for all.”
After Gov. J.B. Pritzker raised the gas tax, Illinoisans pay the second-highest gas taxes in the nation at nearly 78 cents per gallon, Illinois Policy reported.
Biden came to visit the state in recent weeks. While he was in Illinois to discuss inflation, Gov. J.B. Pritzker — a billionaire — also hosted a campaign fundraiser for the president where tickets sold for as much as $365,000, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Downstate lawmaker Mary Miller slammed President Joe Biden's handling of the country's growing baby formula crisis and called Biden a "weak and incompetent man."
"I give zero credence to what comes out of his mouth," Miller said of Biden, according to East Central Reporter. "I'm looking at what they're doing, and in every way, they're dismantling our country.”
