City of Athens City Council met May 9

City of Athens City Council met May 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Welcome given by Mayor Reichert. Roll call was taken by Clerk Rhonda Ethell. Alderman Chernowsky absent all other Alderman were present. All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Reichert asked for a vote to approve the following reports: Public Works, Police, Treasury, Cemetery, Library, Vehicles and Office Managers Report. A motion to accept the reports was made by Alderman Lantz seconded by Alderman Armbruster. The motion passed.

Mayor Reichert asked for a vote to approve the April 2022 meeting minutes. Motion made by Alderman Thompson seconded by Alderman Puma. Motion passed.

Mayor Reichert asked for a motion to approve payment of the bills. Motion made by Alderman Lantz seconded by Alderman Thompson. Motion passed.

Mayor Reichert asked for approval of the Electronics Recycling Event at the Community Park on June 11th with a cost of $200. Per truck funds coming from the gaming fund. Motion made by Alderman Hoffman seconded by Alderman Lantz. Motion passed

Mayor Reichert asked for a motion to approve the Library Budget. After discussion council asked for further explanation and to table vote until next meeting.

Mayor Reichert asked for approval for change of companies for EPAY to the State of Illinois EPAY System. Motion made by Alderman Lantz seconded by Alderman Hoffman. Motion passed.

Mayor Reichert asked for approval of the new Zoning Board Members Nick Ethell and Jessica Muller. Motion made by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Armbruster. Motion passed.

Mayor Reichert asked for approval to continue to move forward with the Solar Energy Discovery for the City Hall. Motion made by Alderman Armbruster seconded by Alderman Lantz. Motion passed 5 to 1 with Alderman Hoffman voting no.

Mayor Reichert asked for approval to go forward with the proposal for the Rural Water District. Motion made by Alderman Thompson seconded by Alderman Puma. Motion passed

Mayor Reichert asked for approval of a donation of $4,000 for fireworks July 2nd with the funds coming from the Gaming Fund. Motion made by Alderman Puma seconded by Alderman Lantz. Motion passed.

Mayor Reicher asked for a motion to adjourn. Motion made by Alderman Thompson seconded by Alderman Armbruster. Meeting adjourned at 7:19
