Taft’s Mr. Ribeye was recently recognized for its 50 years of cooking its popular ribeye sandwiches at the Illinois State Fair.
“Thank you Taft’s Mr. Ribeye for your 50 years of serving ribeye sandwiches to the hungry patrons of the Illinois State Fair," Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) posted on Facebook. "Today Rep. Sandy Hamilton (R-Springfield) and I presented the Taft family with House Resolution 917 which honors the Tafts' decades of service to the people of Illinois as well as Rick Swan’s work cooking those ribeyes for 38 years.”
The 2022 state fair ended on Sunday.
Butler filed House Resolution 917 on Aug. 10 and added Hamilton as a co-sponsor on Aug. 11.
The resolution celebrates the 50th anniversary of Taft's Mr. Ribeye, and honors the Taft Family.
Taft’s Mr. Ribeye thanked the legislators for their efforts.
“Thank you so much to Tim and Sandy for the recognition of our stand,” the vendor wrote on Facebook. “Proud to be a part of the Illinois State Fair history for the past 50 years.”
On Aug. 18, Hamilton reminded State Fair attendees that when they are parking in “mom and pop” locations, the parking fee is “exempt from the parking tax this year because of legislation that I sponsored (HB 5148/HB4132). Come to the Fair every day that you can and enjoy all of the family fun available!”
