SIUE Wrestling Features Seven Home Dates for 2022-23 Season

SIUE wrestling Head Coach Jeremy Spates revealed the Cougars' 2022-23 schedule Tuesday and have seven home dates scheduled.

"We are looking forward to a challenging home schedule with almost every wrestling conference coming in to Edwardsville," said Spates. "Between duals and the Cougar Clash we have Big 10, EIWA, PAC 12, Big 12 and the MAC at home."

SIUE begins the season Nov. 4 with Indiana at First Community Arena. Rider comes to Edwardsville Nov. 11 and faces the Cougars in a Mid-American Conference dual match that will take place in the Jon Davis Center.

The Cougar Clash returns Dec. 4 when SIUE welcomes Brown, Lindenwood, Little Rock, Northern Colorado and Northern Illinois for a six-team bracketed tournament.

The Cougars also have home dual meets against Buffalo (Jan. 8), Lindenwood (Jan. 22), Ohio (Feb. 12), Little Rock (Feb. 12), and Northern Illinois (Feb. 19).

"Our fans will get a chance to see many returning faces combined with an incoming freshman class," noted Spates. "With the NCAA change in rules that redshirts can wrestle in five team competitions, it will give us the necessary depth to navigate through a tough schedule."

Four regular season tournaments are schedule with the Maryville Open (Nov. 5), Lindenwood Open (Nov. 19), Midlands (Dec. 29-30) and the Indianapolis Open (Feb. 4).

SIUE has road matches dual meets against Chattanooga (Dec. 16), Gardner-Webb (Dec. 16), Clarion (Dec. 16), Central Michigan (Jan. 15), Kent State (Jan. 27), Cleveland State (Jan. 28) and George Mason (Jan. 28).

The MAC Championships will be March 3-4 in Fairfax, Virginia, culminating with the NCAA Division I Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, March 17-19.

"We are excited about the pieces that we have added to the puzzle through our team and staff to continue to improve and move the program forward," said Spates.
