City of Athens City Council met Feb. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the council: 

The Athens City Council met for a regular scheduled City Council Meeting Monday February 13th, 2023.

Mayor Reichert called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. All present participated in the pledge of allegiance. The roll call taken indicated that Alderman Chernowsky, Alderman Hoffman, Alderman Puma, Alderman Tobias, Alderman Lantz and Alderman Thompson were present. Other city personnel present were Police Chief Tim Becker and Public Works Superintendent Derrick Fritz. Chief Becker served as clerk in Clerk Rhonda Ethell's absence.

Police Chief Tim Becker gave the police report.

Treasurer Derrick Fritz gave the Treasurer's report.

Public Works Superintendent Derrick Fritz gave the Public Works report.

A motion was made by Alderman Lantz and seconded by Alderman Chernowsky to approve the Public Works, Police, Treasury, Library and Office Managers' reports. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Puma to approve the January 2023 meeting minutes. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Hoffman and seconded by Alderman Chernowsky to approve payment of bills. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.

Motion made by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Lantz to approve the purchase of a cross conveyor spreader not to exceed $9,000 with the funds coming from the streets savings account. Motion was roll called all present in favor voted aye. Motion passed.

Tim Rathbone gave a report on the progress of the building on Main Street.

Tim Collins presented a business development plan to the council for consideration of an additional liquor license.

Brian and Dawn Ratliff presented their business plan to the city for the opening of a shaved ice/soft serve ice cream stand and a craft shop on Main Street.

Motion made by Alderman Hoffman and seconded by Alderman Puma to adjourn.

Meeting adjourned at 7:48.
