Menard County taxpayers ranked 69th in total sales taxes paid per county in April, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Menard County residents paid $162,423 in sales taxes during April.

Menard County ranked 68th in the Prairie State the month before, with $141,518 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Menard County residents in April.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.
