State Senator Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City) is calling on the community to lend a hand in brightening the day of senior citizens in the 53rd Senate District. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Senator Bennett is spearheading the "Valentines for Seniors" program, aimed at spreading love and appreciation to those living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Bennett expressed his desire to ensure that everyone feels remembered and valued on Valentine's Day, particularly the elderly residing in long-term care facilities. He emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, "Your help is important. By taking a few minutes out of your day, you can make a significant impact on someone else's."

To achieve his goal, Senator Bennett is enlisting the support of various groups, including students, scout groups, churches, and others. These groups are encouraged to create handmade cards that will be delivered to nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and other long-term care centers throughout the 53rd Senate District.

Cards can be mailed or dropped off at Senator Bennett's district office until February 5th. The office is conveniently located at 1715 N. Division St., Morris, Il. 60450. A drop box will be available inside the office during normal business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For those unable to make it during these hours, a small mailbox has been placed outside for after-hours card drop-offs.
