Illinois College volleyball falls to ranked teams at UW-Whitewater Invite

The Illinois College volleyball team completed its participation in the UW-Whitewater Invite on Saturday, facing two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponents. The Lady Blues were defeated by both Wisconsin-Whitewater and UW-River Falls.

Following these matches, Illinois College's record stands at 4-11 for the season. Wisconsin-Whitewater improved to 13-2, while River Falls moved to an even 9-9.

In their first match of the day, Illinois College lost to nationally ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in straight sets with scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-20. Laura Kaiser led the Lady Blues with four kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Delani Klaas contributed five kills and a block. Riley Drake added three kills and three service aces. Summer Brandis recorded 12 assists, while Reagan Oster had 11 digs on defense.

The second match saw Illinois College fall to UW-River Falls by scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-21. Riley Drake led offensively again with ten kills and five digs. Alyssa Burglund added five kills and a block. Kahli O'Neal finished with eleven assists and two service aces. Defensively, Reagan Oster and Amy Frerichs combined for twenty-one digs.

At the end of the tournament, Riley Drake was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Illinois College will next play Greenville University on Tuesday at Greenville in their second meeting of the season.
