Ball-Chatham Community Unified School District 5 Facilities and Grounds Committee met Feb. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The project was awarded to Michael von Behren Buildings and demolition began on October 2, 2023. 

The walls being extended to the deck are complete and all associated drywall has been installed. The new ductwork is complete along with the new Variable Air Volume (VAV) units. The hot water heat piping is complete and the boiler installation is scheduled to begin the week of February 19, 2024. The new rooftop heating/cooling units are scheduled to be installed on February 26, 2024. Electrical rough-in is complete and data cable installation is at 90%. The new window installation is complete. Interior painting has begun in the offices on the east side of the building along with ceiling grid and lighting. The handicapped accessible, concrete platform has been poured in the board room. The excavation for the new drive and sidewalks is complete and the concrete will be poured when weather permits.   

CES Roof Replacement

A pre-bid meeting was held in mid-January and bids were received on January 31, 2024. Top Quality Roofing was the most responsive bid and will be presented at the February board meeting for approval. The firm has not done any roofing work in our district in the past but it is highly recommended. Graham and Hyde, the district’s architects, have a lot of experience with them and feel that they are a good fit for the project.

CES/GIS Playground Replacement

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for February 21, 2024, with bids due on March 21, 2024. Drawings and project specifications are complete and available to firms interested in submitting a proposal. Substantial completion of both projects on August 2, 2024.
