Logan County Board Building & Grounds Committee met March 5

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: Mr. Wessbecher called the meeting to order at 5:40pm

Present: Mr. Wessbecher, Mrs. Davenport, Mrs. Fitzpatrick

Absent: Mr. Sanders, Mrs. Schmidt

Guests: Bill Walter, Chris Wilson

MOTION TO APPROVE MINUTES: Mrs. Fitzpatrick made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Davenport, to approve the committee meeting minutes from February 6, 2024. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS: Mr. Wessbecher stated he had nothing for Old Business.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Restoration Project Update- Mr. Walter gave an update on the dome copper work, stating that Durable Slate has completed their work, adding he did a walkthrough and punch list the previous week. Mr. Walter added he has people coming to finish cleaning off the debris from the courthouse roof and he will be discussing the best time to schedule the crane to remove the beams. Mr. Walter also gave an update on CTS and Smith Bell & Clock Co., and the stained-glass contractors.

2. Tile Floor Restoration Bid- Mr. Walter told the committee that in their packets there is a copy of the bid for their review and asked for committee input regarding the bid, adding he would like it added to the board voting meeting for discussion, but it could wait until the next month. Mr. Walter addressed the situation with the brick falling through the ceiling, adding he completed an investigation and has spoken to Judge Wright about it. Mr. Walter explained an American Scaffolding invoice to the committee and added that Durable Slate has submitted their final pay request.

3. Courthouse Restoration Invoices Approval- Mrs. Fitzpatrick made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Davenport, to approve the bills. Motion carried.

Facilities Manager Report: Mr. Wilson gave an update to the committee regarding the Scully Park ice rink and Mr. Wilson mentioned that he would like to paint the fountain when it gets warmer and explained the deterioration and pitting to the committee, adding it may increase the longevity of the fountain if it is painted. Mr. Wilson spoke to the committee regarding the Orr Building and what he has taken back to the courthouse and told the committee about donating trash cans to the Hope On 5th building, Mr. Wessbecher agreed. Mr. Wessbecher asked about the old State’s Attorney Office refrigerator, Mr. Wilson explained it was able to be fixed and is now moved to the Maintenance Office in the basement. Use of Grounds Request: Mr. Wessbecher told the committee that he would like to bring the requests off the floor to the Workshop meeting so Mrs. Newman can reach out to the requestors for more information, the committee agreed.

Approval of Bills: Mrs. Fitzpatrick made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Davenport, to approve the bills.

Motion carried.

Public Comments: None.

Adjourn Meeting: Mrs. Fitzpatrick made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Davenport, to adjourn the meeting at 5:55pm. Motion carried.
