Rep. Coffey recently toured the Brookens Library at the University of Illinois Springfield. "I want to thank Pattie Piotrowski and her colleagues for the tour of Brookens Library, located at the University of Illinois Springfield," Coffey stated. "They all do a wonderful job providing exceptional services to students who need a collaborative work space and quiet study time in the library. It’s impressive how much the library has grown over the years!"

Brookens Library, dedicated to the university in 1976, was the first permanent building on campus. Currently, it offers over 300,000 physical books, more than 200,000 ebooks, and over 2,000 featured films.

In addition to his visit to Brookens Library, Rep. Coffey also spoke with ICCTA College Presidents and Trustees about ongoing investments in community colleges across Illinois. "Continued efforts are being made to invest into Community Colleges across Illinois to provide students and staff with supplemental education programs and grants," he said. "It’s important that we expand opportunities for college students that will award them with great paying jobs, right here in Illinois. As the job market evolves, it’s imperative our students have the skills and knowledge to thrive."
