Blueboys finish sixth in season opener at Highland Championship

The Blueboys opened their fall season at the Highland Championship held at Highland Springs Municipal in Rock Island, Illinois. Hosted by Augustana College, the tournament featured 21 teams.

Illinois College finished 6th overall after posting rounds of 300 and 298. The season opener saw a strong field with two teams, North Central and Augustana College, finishing under par for the two-day event.

Jarrett James led the Blueboys, finishing 8th overall. James shot an opening round of 70 (-2) and followed it with a 73 (+1), ending the tournament at one-under par. His performance added his name to the Illinois College record book for the fifth time with a score of 70.

Other notable performances included Tobin Nell, who finished in the top 20 with rounds of 73 and 75. Emmitt Brokaw contributed scores of 79 and 74, helping Illinois College secure 6th place by one stroke.

The Blueboys will next compete in the Illinois Central College Cougar Classic at Metamora Fields Golf Course on September 16th and 17th.
