A new study by SmartAsset indicates that Illinois is experiencing a significant outflow of young, high-earning professionals. The data reveals that Illinois ranks among the top states losing millennials to more tax-friendly regions. Specifically, in 2022, 1,323 households with individuals aged between 26 and 35 earning $200,000 or more left Illinois.

The state's high tax burden has been frequently cited as a primary reason for this exodus. Governor Pritzker recently signed nearly $1 billion in new taxes into law to address the migrant crisis. Senator Bennett commented on the issue, stating, "As long as the Governor and his allies continue pushing their misplaced priorities at the expense of working families, residents will continue to seek genuine relief elsewhere." Bennett emphasized the need for state leaders to recognize these trends and take action to support families struggling to make ends meet.

With the general election approaching, Illinois residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the voting process and registration requirements. To vote in Illinois, one must be a U.S. citizen, have lived in their election precinct for at least 30 days prior to Election Day, and be at least 18 years old by the date of the general election. Individuals serving sentences in penal institutions are not permitted to vote.

For those needing to check their registration status or register to vote, information is available on the Illinois Online Voter Registration Application Website.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will soon accept sealed bids for approximately 30 agricultural lease contracts covering crop years from 2025-2029. These leases aim to enhance wildlife populations and improve recreational areas while promoting sustainable farming practices. Interested bidders can find details on BidBuy, Illinois' official procurement site.

National Farm Safety and Health Week will be observed from September 15-21 this year under the theme “Don’t Learn Safety by Accident.” The week emphasizes safety education in agriculture, focusing on various aspects such as equipment safety and health wellness each day. In 2022 alone, there were 417 fatalities in agriculture according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The State of Illinois currently owes $2,011,581,122.62 to state vendors with 14,183 pending vouchers awaiting payment. This figure does not include estimated debts like unfunded pension liabilities which exceed $139 billion.

Senator Bennett continues efforts within the 53rd District aiming at effective representation.
