Illinois College softball suffers double defeat against Lake Forest

Illinois College's women's softball team faced a challenging day as they experienced their first two losses in Midwest Conference play against Lake Forest at Jessica Kamp Field. The Lady Blues' record now stands at 11-18 overall and 6-2 in conference, while Lake Forest improved to 17-9 and remains undefeated in the conference with an 8-0 record.

In the first game, Lake Forest took advantage of five two-out runs early on, including four in the first inning, establishing a lead that Illinois College struggled to overcome. Claudia Adam managed to score her first home run of the season for the Lady Blues in the third inning. Brooke Loveall also contributed by driving Cheyenne Anderson home with a single in the fourth inning. Despite these efforts, Illinois College couldn't close the gap further and lost 6-2. Julia Drake was charged with the loss, making her season record 6-8.

The second game saw Lake Forest widen their lead with five runs in the seventh inning, bringing them ahead 8-1. The Lady Blues mounted a significant comeback attempt by scoring six runs in their half of the seventh inning but ultimately fell short with an 8-7 defeat. Taylor Henry was tagged with the loss for this game.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will face Monmouth College in another doubleheader at Jessica Kamp Field on Wednesday, starting at 3:00 PM.
