Illinois College ends softball season with loss to Lake Forest

The Illinois College softball team concluded its season with a 10-1 defeat against Lake Forest during the Midwest Conference Tournament held at Mohr Field. The match, which took place on Saturday in Lake Forest, Illinois, marked the end of the season for Illinois College with an overall record of 20 wins and 22 losses.

Lake Forest made a strong start by scoring five runs in the first inning. They continued their lead with one run in the third inning and four more in the fourth, securing their victory.

Illinois College struggled offensively, managing only one hit during the game. This lone hit was a single by senior player Emma Nicholson.

Senior pitcher Calynn Gicante was charged with the loss after allowing five runs within just one-third of an inning. Her teammate, senior Julia Drake, completed the remaining four and two-thirds innings. Drake concluded her career with Illinois College as the all-time leader in strikeouts, totaling 432.
