Illinois College swimmers achieve strong results at Beloit Midseason Championships

The Illinois College men's and women's swim teams competed in the Beloit Midseason Championships, which took place over three days from Friday to Saturday in Beloit, Wisconsin. The men's team secured second place overall, while the women's team finished in fourth.

Cooper Meyer was a standout performer for Illinois College, earning two gold medals in diving events. He achieved first place in both the 1-meter dive with a score of 308.15 and set a new school record in the 3-meter dive with a score of 176.10. Additionally, Meyer placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.24.

In other notable performances, Nathen Trachta secured second place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.35. James Hammond finished third in the 500 freestyle at 5:42.07, while Xaiver Applegate earned third-place finishes in both the 400 IM (5:15.54) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.65).

For the Lady Blues, Abigail Glaser led her teammates Cassie Reeve and Delaney Goddard to finish second, third, and fourth respectively in the 1,650 meter freestyle event with times of 20:31.88, 21:05.13, and 21:17.23.

Emma Dunsworth also performed well for Illinois College by securing second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.83. Julia Edwards added to IC's success with third-place finishes in both the 100 breaststroke (1:16.26) and the 200 breaststroke (2:45.42).

Looking ahead, Illinois College is set to host its Winter Invitational at Coultas Natatorium on Saturday at 1 p.m.
