Illinois College men achieve historic sixth-place finish at MWC Championships

The Illinois College men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships at Ripon College. The men's team achieved their best finish in school history, securing sixth place with a team score of 169. Three individuals represented the Lady Blues in the competition.

Elgin Scherff led the Blueboys with a time of 27:37.33 in the 8K race, earning him a 17th place finish and marking him as the first All-Conference honoree for Illinois College. Devin Boggs followed with a 41st place finish at 29:24.66, while Will Detmer finished closely behind in 42nd place with a time of 29:31.48. Eduardo Fulgencio (30:01.92) and Collin White (30:24.07) completed the top five for the Blueboys.

For the Lady Blues, Zoey Lewis led with a 26th place finish and a time of 25:42.50 in the 6K race, followed by Elizabeth Ruvalcaba (26:46.96) and Ashley Drake (30:02.29).

Both teams are set to compete next at the NCAA Midwest Regional on November 13th.
