Illinois College cross country teams compete at Titan Opener

The Illinois College men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Titan Opener, marking their first competition of the season. The Lady Blues secured sixth place, while the Blueboys finished fifth among seven competing teams.

Devin Boggs led the men's team with a 13th-place finish, clocking a time of 16:10.31 in the three-mile race. He was followed by Elgin Scherff in 17th place with a time of 16:18.89 and Will Detmer who placed 18th with a time of 16:32.69.

On the women's side, Ashley Orrick was the top performer for Illinois College, finishing in 24th place with a time of 13:28.01 in the two-mile race. Kairy Mercado-Ramos and Elizabeth Ruvalcaba followed her in 43rd and 49th places, recording times of 14:31.60 and 15:21.77 respectively.

Both teams are set to compete again on Friday, September 9 at the UIS First Meet hosted by the University of Illinois Springfield.
