The Illinois College men's tennis team secured a victory against The University of Olivet on Sunday afternoon. The match took place at Minooka High School, marking the team's first away game since March 2. The Blueboys claimed an early lead in the doubles competition and concluded with four singles victories, resulting in a final score of 6-3. This win brings Illinois College to an overall record of 6-6 for the season.

In the doubles matches, Illinois College achieved two wins from their No. 1 and No. 2 pairings. Jeff Wernsing and Glenn Conway dominated their opponents in the No. 1 match with an 8-2 victory. Meanwhile, identical twins Grayson Dupre and Andrus Dupre triumphed in the No. 2 match with a score of 8-4. However, Allen Oakley and Antonio Loaiza narrowly lost their No. 3 doubles match with a close score of 6-8.

The singles competition saw Illinois College clinching four more wins, contributing to their sixth victory this season. In the No. 1 singles match, Wernsing faced a challenging opponent but managed to win the opening set with a tight score of 7-6. Conway's performance in the No. 2 singles was decisive as he defeated his opponent in straight sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-4.

A notable performance came from G. Dupre in the No. 3 singles match where he initially won his set by a margin of 6-4 but was pushed into a tiebreaker after losing the second set to Olivet's Alex Jonas. Dupre prevailed in the tiebreaker set with a commanding score of 10-5.

The No. 4 singles featured A. Dupre against Olivet's Josh Moore, where Dupre secured victories in both sets with scores of 6-2 and a closely contested second set ending at 7-5.

Looking ahead, the Blueboys will host Illinois Valley Community College at Bellatti Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 30 at 10:00 AM.
