The Illinois College men's tennis team secured a significant victory against Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match held on Tuesday evening. The match, initially scheduled to be played outdoors, was moved indoors to the Huff Athletic Center due to inclement weather conditions in Monmouth, Illinois. The Blueboys performed strongly on the indoor court, defeating Monmouth with a decisive score of 8-1. This win marks their second MWC victory of the season, bringing their conference record to 2-3.

The Blueboys began with an impressive performance in doubles competition, sweeping all three matches. Jeff Wernsing and Andrus Dupre dominated the No. 1 doubles match with an 8-0 win. In the No. 2 doubles match, Grayson Dupre and Allen Oakley claimed victory with an 8-4 scoreline. The third doubles victory was awarded to IC by forfeit.

In singles play, Illinois College continued their success by winning five out of six matches. Jeff Wernsing showcased his skills in the No. 1 singles match with a hard-fought 6-4 first set followed by a comfortable 6-2 second set win.

Grayson Dupre took control in the No. 2 singles match, starting with a 6-3 win and then shutting out his opponent Spencer Corn with a perfect 6-0 second set. Andrus Dupre also excelled in the No. 3 singles match, achieving a challenging 6-4 first set win before blanking his opponent in the second set at 6-0.

Momir Vickovic added another point for IC by winning the No. 5 singles match against Nehemiah Declaw with scores of 6-2 and an uncontested second set at 6-0.

Illinois College's final victory came from another forfeited match by Monmouth in the No. 6 doubles position.

The Blueboys are scheduled to continue their four-match road trip at Lake Forest College on Saturday, April 20th for another MWC encounter beginning at 9:00 AM in Lake Forest, Illinois.
