The Illinois College men's tennis team secured a win against Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. The Blueboys emerged victorious with a score of 7-2, marking their eighth win of the season.
The match began with Illinois College taking an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. Grayson Dupre and Andrus Dupre won their No. 1 doubles match with a score of 8-3. Jeff Wernsing and Momir Vickovic claimed victory in the No. 2 doubles match, finishing at 8-2. Allen Oakley and Antonio Loaiza completed the sweep for Illinois College with an 8-4 win in the final doubles match.
In singles play, Illinois College continued their strong performance by securing four out of six wins. Both Grayson and Andrus Dupre achieved straight-set victories in their respective No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches.
A notable singles match was between Allen Oakley and Westminster's Hugo Jover at No. 4 singles, which proved to be competitive throughout. Oakley won the first set 6-3, but Jover responded with a 7-6 win in the second set, forcing a tiebreaker that Oakley narrowly won with a score of 10-8.
Momir Vickovic delivered the final singles victory for Illinois College at No. 5 singles, winning his match decisively with set scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
Following this triumph, the Blueboys will have a day off before facing Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference match on April 16th at Monmouth, Illinois.
