The Illinois College men's track and field team delivered a commendable performance at the Spartan Shootout hosted by the University of Dubuque. The team secured fourth place in the standings, accumulating 54 points.
Freshman Robby Biesenthal made a significant impact by achieving the second-best time in Illinois College history for the 3,000 meters. This feat was accomplished during only his third indoor meet, with a time of 9:24.25.
Other notable performances included Adam Hernandez's third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.69 seconds. Jackson Lee also performed well, securing third place in pole vault by clearing 4.3 meters and finishing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.8 seconds.
Dylan Doss earned two fourth-place finishes: one in the 60-meter dash clocking at 6.99 seconds and another in long jump with a leap of 6.8 meters. DJ Williams placed fourth in the 400 meters, completing it in 52.15 seconds.
The relay team consisting of Jaden Saunders, Carter Wasson, Hernandez, and Williams finished third in the 4x400-meter relay event with a combined time of 3:29.84.
Illinois College will next compete at home on Saturday as they host the Jim Green Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
