The Illinois College track teams successfully completed their events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, despite challenging weather conditions. The men's 4x200 meter relay team, consisting of Dylan Doss, Carter Wasson, Jaden Saunders, and DJ Williams, stood out by winning its heat with a time of 1:28.24.

Shortly after their victory, the event was paused due to severe weather. Organizers at Drake University are hoping to resume the college and university events later in the evening if conditions improve. If not, the remaining heats will be conducted on Saturday morning to determine the finalists for that day.

In earlier competitions, another highlight was the women's 4x200 meter relay team comprising Mattie Brown, Haley Garrett, Fynesse Jones, and Deja Anderson. They finished third in their heat with a time of 1:44.17.

Additionally, during the morning session, the women's 4x100 meter relay team featuring Mattie Brown, Mady Salisbury, Haley Garrett, and Deja Anderson placed sixth in their heat with a time of 48.08 seconds.

Competitions are set to continue on Saturday with the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Austin Robinson, Nathan Barth, Jackson Lee, and Adam Hernandez scheduled to compete at 12:22 p.m.
