The Illinois College men's tennis team secured their first shutout of the season with a 9-0 victory over Mississippi University for Women. The match took place Friday afternoon at Bellatti Tennis Complex, bringing IC's record to 3-1 in their current six-game homestand and improving their overall standing to 4-5.

The Blueboys quickly gained a 3-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches. Jeff Wernsing and Glenn Conway won the No. 1 doubles match with an 8-0 score. Arkansas twins Andrus Dupre and Grayson Dupre also secured an 8-0 victory in the No. 2 match, while Momir Vickovic and Allen Oakley won the No. 3 match with an 8-2 score.

In singles play, Illinois College maintained their dominance by winning all six matches. Wernsing claimed his fourth singles victory of the season with scores of 6-3 and 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Conway swiftly defeated his opponent in straight sets, scoring 8-0 in the No. 2 match.

G. Dupre triumphed in the No. 3 singles match by winning the opening set at 6-3 before achieving an 8-0 second set win. A. Dupre displayed skill in both sets of the No. 4 singles match, winning with scores of 6-1 and 6-3.

A highlight was Oakley's performance against Jasper Poag in the No. 5 singles match, where he rallied to win a tiebreaker set after a closely contested series of games, ultimately securing victory with a final score of 4-3.
