Freshman Adam Hernandez had a notable debut at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, contributing significantly to Illinois College's second-place finish in Jacksonville, Illinois. The team scored 128 points, trailing behind Ripon, who secured the championship with 158 points.
Hernandez from Pawnee, Illinois, won the 110-meter hurdles clocking in at 15.24 seconds and placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.58 seconds. He also collaborated with teammates Jaden Saunders, Will Detmer, and Dylan Doss to secure third place in the 4x400 meters relay with a time of 3:25.07. Additionally, Hernandez achieved fourth place in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.85 meters.
His performance earned him the title of Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year.
Dylan Doss also delivered strong performances individually by finishing third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.05 seconds and securing fourth place in the 200 meters at 22.09 seconds.
Deon Rodgers contributed to Illinois College's success by finishing third in the shot put event with a throw measuring 14.26 meters.
