Illinois College football team dominates Knox with commanding victory

The Illinois College football team secured a decisive victory against Knox, winning 77-34 at Stisser Field in the Knosher Bowl. This win improved the Blueboys' record to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Midwest Conference, while Knox fell to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

The game saw Illinois College take control early, establishing a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. The scoring began with Collin Brunstein catching a 12-yard pass from quarterback Destin Chance just under two minutes into the game. Tanner Spencer added to the score with a two-yard run, followed by Connor McDowell returning a fumble for a touchdown.

Despite Knox's efforts to close the gap with an early second-quarter touchdown, Illinois College continued their offensive momentum. Chance connected on several touchdown passes throughout the game, including multiple connections with Brunstein.

Chance ended the game completing 21 of his 29 pass attempts for 322 yards and seven touchdowns. Spencer contributed significantly on the ground with 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Brunstein caught ten passes for 155 yards and four touchdowns.

Defensively, Cam Dailey led Illinois College with ten tackles, supported by Garrett Bearden, Dylan Beadle, and Drake Stuart who each recorded six tackles.

Reflecting on their recent performance, "the Blueboys have won 12 of their past 14 regular-season games," continuing a strong streak from last season where they averaged over fifty points per game. Brunstein set new school records with over four thousand career receiving yards and more than sixty touchdown receptions.

Looking ahead, Illinois College will host Lawrence for their annual Homecoming game next Saturday at England Stadium in Jacksonville.
