Illinois College triumphs over Beloit: A dominant Senior Day victory

The Illinois College football team concluded its regular season with a decisive victory over Beloit, winning 96-14 in a Midwest Conference game at England Stadium. The Blueboys finished their season with an 8-2 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play, while the Buccaneers ended with a 1-9 overall record and 1-8 in the league.

The game was effectively decided early as Illinois College surged to a 35-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Tanner Spencer scored three rushing touchdowns during this period, while Collin Brunstein caught two touchdown passes from Destin Chance.

In the second quarter, Illinois College added another 34 points. Chance opened the scoring with a five-yard run before Brunstein set an NCAA career record for touchdown receptions with his 76th catch. Trey Birdsong also caught a scoring pass from Chance. After Beloit scored, Brunstein returned the ensuing kickoff for an 85-yard touchdown. Kyle Leonard closed out the half with a 33-yard reception from Chance.

By halftime, Illinois College led 69-14. In the third quarter, they continued their dominance with three more touchdowns. Spencer scored again on a four-yard run, followed by another Brunstein-Chance connection for a score and Baylor Borden's reception from Chance.

The final points of the game came in the fourth quarter when backup quarterback Tyson Elliott ran in for a one-yard touchdown.

Destin Chance completed 37 of his 49 pass attempts for 620 yards and seven touchdowns. Collin Brunstein recorded a school-record performance with 335 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 14 catches. Tanner Spencer rushed for 102 yards on fourteen attempts.

Defensively, Drake Stuart led Illinois College with ten tackles. Tommy Kaesberg and Blaze Helton each had two tackles for loss; Kaesberg also recorded one sack.

Illinois College has now won sixteen of its last eighteen regular-season games and twenty-one of its last twenty-five games overall. Collin Brunstein became the NCAA Division III all-time leader in touchdown receptions with seventy-seven career scores and set multiple school records along the way.
