Lawrence University secured a victory over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference women's basketball game, winning 63-47 at Alexander Gym on Saturday. This win brought Lawrence's record to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Illinois College fell to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The game was evenly matched in the first quarter, with both teams tied at 17 points. The Lady Blues briefly led 20-19 with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter before the Vikings executed an 11-point run. Lawrence ended the half leading 28-22.
In the third quarter, Lawrence extended their lead to as much as 15 points and further increased it to a maximum of 20 points during the fourth quarter, securing their victory comfortably.
Anna McKee stood out for Illinois College by achieving a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. She also contributed three assists. Kallie Oestreicher added eight points, while Ashlyn Wightman recorded seven points and six rebounds for the Lady Blues.
Wightman is approaching a milestone of scoring 1,000 career points at Illinois College, currently standing at 923 career points.
The Lady Blues will take a break for Christmas before returning to face Wisconsin-Stevens Point on December 29th in Nashville, Tennessee. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
