The Lady Blues participated in the Transylvania Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, where they faced Covenant College and Centre College. Unfortunately, they lost both matches, which brought their season record to 2-3.
In their first match against Centre College, the Lady Blues were defeated in a five-set contest. Despite Centre committing 17 serving errors, they managed to win. Illinois College initially led by winning two of the first three sets. However, Centre rallied back to take the last two sets, improving their season record to 4-1. Ligaya Garibay stood out for the Lady Blues with 14 kills, while Laura Kaiser and Alyssa Burglund each contributed with five block assists.
In the second match against Covenant College, ranked #23 nationally, Illinois College fell in four sets. The team effort was led by Laura Kaiser, Riley Drake, and Caidyn Tate in kills. Kahli O'Neal and Summer Brandis provided a combined total of 36 assists.
Looking ahead, the Lady Blues will face Transylvania University tomorrow morning at 11:00 am. Transylvania is currently ranked #19 in the country.
