Illinois College's Laura Kaiser has been recognized as the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week, following a standout performance over the weekend. The announcement was made by the league on Tuesday.
Kaiser played a pivotal role in Illinois College's strong start to conference play last week. During a match in Appleton, Wisconsin, she achieved a record-breaking performance with 16 kills on 19 attempts and no errors, resulting in an impressive .842 hitting percentage. This achievement surpassed the previous record of .783 set by Sara Long in 2002.
The team continued their success against Ripon College later that weekend, securing another conference victory. Kaiser again led her team with nine kills on 15 attempts and finished with a .400 hitting percentage.
Overall, Kaiser's efforts contributed to Illinois College's 2-0 start in conference play, concluding the weekend with a .647 hitting percentage. Last season, she led the conference with a .329 hitting percentage.
Illinois College is scheduled to face Greenville University this evening at 7:00 pm.
