The Illinois College women's volleyball team secured a victory in a non-conference match against Greenville University on Tuesday. The Lady Blues triumphed 3-1, improving their season record to 11-10. Meanwhile, Greenville's record now stands at 12-6.
In the match, the Lady Blues lost the first set 25-21 but rallied to win the next three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 28-26. This marks their second win over Greenville this season, with only one more non-conference match remaining on their schedule.
Ligaya Garibay led Illinois College with 15 kills, while Alyssa Burglund contributed an additional 10 kills. Ella Ausmus and Laura Kaiser added a combined total of 16 kills to aid in overcoming Greenville's strong performance.
Summer Brandis led the team in assists with 24, supported by Kahli O'Neal who provided another 16 assists. Defensively, Ligaya Garibay and Nevaeh Gould each recorded 19 digs for Illinois College. The Lady Blues also scored six points from blocks, with Alyssa Burglund and Haylie Orton leading in this category.
The Lady Blues will return to action on Friday for a conference matchup at Monmouth.
