The Illinois College volleyball team faced a setback in their final match at the Loras Invitational, losing to Dubuque in straight sets. The match took place on Saturday at the Stoltz Sports Center in Dubuque, Iowa, with scores of 25-19, 25-14, and 25-17.
This defeat brought the Lady Blues' overall record to 3-6, while Dubuque improved their standing to 7-5. The Spartans managed to restrict Illinois College's hitting percentage to .071 throughout the match. After a closely contested first set, they limited Illinois College to just 14 and 17 points in the subsequent sets.
Riley Drake was a standout performer for Illinois College, leading her team with nine kills and achieving a match-high of 15 digs. Alyssa Burglund and Ligaya Garibay contributed five kills each for the Lady Blues, while Ella Ausmus added eight digs. Summer Brandis provided support with 18 assists during the game.
Illinois College concluded their participation in the Loras Invitational with one win and two losses. They are scheduled to return home for their next match against Greenville at Sherman Gymnasium on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
