Illinois College volleyball triumphs over Knox on Senior Day

The Illinois College volleyball team secured a victory against Knox College with a 3-0 win during their Senior Day celebrations. The match, held in Jacksonville, Illinois, saw the Lady Blues honoring seniors Abby Buchanan-Kenzinger, Ligaya Garibay, and Alex Johnson for their contributions to the team.

Following this win, Illinois College improved their record to 13-14 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Meanwhile, Knox College's record fell to 3-20 overall and 2-5 in conference matches.

In the match recap, the Lady Blues demonstrated strong performance throughout the game at Sherman. They trailed only once during the match (2-1 in the third set). The team finished with a .300 hitting percentage, achieved 13 serving aces, and recorded 46 digs.

Ligaya Garibay was instrumental with her contribution of 12 kills on 25 attempts, four service aces, and eight digs. Alex Johnson led defensively with 18 digs and also contributed two service aces. Abby Buchanan-Kenzinger marked her senior day with eight kills on 14 attempts. Laura Kaiser and Haylie Orton added a combined total of 11 kills. Summer Brandis provided significant support with a team-leading 22 assists along with four digs.

Looking ahead, the Lady Blues are set to face Beloit College in Wisconsin on Saturday, November 9th at 10:00 am for their regular season finale as they aim for another conference victory.
