The Lady Blues faced a setback in their opening game of the Music City Classic, losing to UW-Stevens Point with a score of 67-49. This result brings Illinois College's record to 2-9, while Stevens Point advances to 9-1.

Despite leading in field goal shooting with 37.8% compared to Stevens Point's 31.3%, the Lady Blues struggled at the free-throw line. UWSP capitalized on this by making 21 out of 31 attempts, whereas Illinois College managed only 10 out of 21.

Stevens Point excelled in controlling turnovers and rebounds, forcing Illinois College into committing 29 turnovers while they had just 13 themselves. Additionally, they outperformed the Lady Blues on rebounds with a count of 46-39, resulting in Illinois College conceding 26 points from turnovers.

Jalyn Patterson was a standout player for Illinois College, achieving a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. She also contributed three blocks. Ashlyn Wightman added seven points and seven rebounds along with three blocks as well.

Wightman is nearing a milestone in her career at Illinois College, now having accumulated a total of 930 career points as she approaches the prestigious mark of joining the college's 1,000 career-point club.

The Lady Blues are set to continue their participation in the Music City Classic with their next game scheduled against Marywood University on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
