The Lady Blues basketball team concluded their participation in the Music City Classic with a decisive win against Marywood University, finishing the game 80-60. This victory brings Illinois College's record to 3-9, while Marywood's record falls to 9-6.
The game saw Illinois College shooting at 45% from the field and dominating the rebounds with a margin of 49-36. The Lady Blues also managed to keep their turnovers low at 11, compared to Marywood's 17.
Illinois College started strong, ending the first quarter with a lead of 30-19 and maintaining momentum throughout, achieving their highest score of the season with 80 points.
Jayln Patterson was instrumental for the Lady Blues, scoring 24 points on an impressive 11-13 shooting performance. Kallie Oestreicher contributed with 13 points, while Raegen Stringer provided seven assists during the game.
Defensively, Illinois College restricted Marywood to a shooting percentage of 39% overall and just 22% from three-point range.
In other highlights, Wightman is nearing a milestone with her career points tally reaching 938 as she aims for entry into Illinois College's prestigious 1,000 career-point club.
