Anna McKee, a senior guard from Edwardsville, Illinois, is making waves at Illinois College with her basketball skills and leadership. Known for her scoring ability, she averages 10.9 points and two steals per game. Despite the team's current record, McKee remains hopeful about their potential this season.
"Although our record does not show it right now, I think our team has the potential to be something special this year," McKee said. She attributes the team's strengths to their defensive intensity and quick transitions.
McKee's passion for basketball began in her childhood under the guidance of her parents and coaching from her father. "My parents encouraged my siblings and I to be as involved as possible," she recalled. Her father played a significant role in nurturing her competitive spirit and dedication to the sport.
Beyond basketball, McKee enjoys various hobbies including spending time with family and friends, watching movies, exercising, cooking & baking, attending concerts with her sister, vlogging on social media, and creating slime—a skill she honed since middle school.
Her journey at Illinois College was influenced by a short senior basketball season that made her decide to continue playing in college rather than staying home. Reflecting on this choice, McKee expressed gratitude for the experiences she's had at IC.
"I have had such an amazing experience at IC that I would not trade for anything," she stated. Representing Illinois College means embodying the supportive community they offer. "At Illinois College you feel welcomed and included right from the beginning."
In addition to being a student-athlete, McKee is involved in numerous campus activities including women's basketball, serving as Student Marshal, CSEIB Student Director, Honors Program President, Identity Campus Ministry President, and a member of FCA.
